Rock & Reilly's Debuts On Sunset Strip
December 8, 2011 by: KRISTIN WONG

Rock & Reilly’s is the perfect venue for all of the above. The Irish rock pub opened its doors last month on Los Angeles’ famous Sunset Strip. And the coolest part of the Irish-themed venue is what used to be London Fog, the club that Jim Morrison and The Doors played at in the 1960s. How cool is that? I’ll tell you how cool it is. Very cool.
But let’s not dwell on the past. Rock & Reilly’s is the first West Hollywood pub to offer 45 different hand-selected Irish whiskeys, and they have the largest stock of Irish whiskey in Los Angeles. And the good news is, they have a whiskey for every budget. Reilly’s Mother’s Milk Private label starts at $9, and the rare Midleton goes for $35.
And their menu is just as mouthwatering. They’ve reinvented traditional Irish dishes and serve an Irish Breakfast daily. Some menu highlights include: Irish Nachos, served as crispy potato slices topped with peppered bacon, freshly cut scallions and house made corn salsa; Irish Cheddar Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup with melted Irish cheddar and Hattie’s famous Bread and Butter pickles served on wheat bread along with a cup of Reilly’s own tomato soup; Whiskey Bingo Wings tossed in Reilly’s signature tangy whiskey sauce; and, the pub’s signature Famous Four Group Mac & Cheese topped with bacon, broccoli and rich cheddar sauce. It’s bar food done right.
Celeb clientele include: Zooey Deschanel, Nicole Richie, Lauren Conrad, Jeremy Piven, and Darren Criss.
The venue tells the legendary story of “underground legend and eye-patch wearing Reilly, who after being gambled away by his father during a poker match in Reilly’s native Ireland (he later won himself back), arrived in America on a Whiskey boat and became the leader of the infamous Black Eye Society—a gang of misfits who smuggled liquor in milk bottles to thirsty Americans during the Prohibition Era.”
The venue is 2,500 square foot and overlooks Sunset Boulevard. Vintage rock memorabilia covers the exposed brick walls, and there’s even an antique photo booth and fully functioning whiskey barrel overhead. What an ideal place to order the perfect pint of Guinness.
Reilly says with a wink: “I welcome every man and woman in the land to stop in and join me for a pint. Rock & Reilly’s encourages bad behavior. We won’t tell. Hell, we probably won’t remember.”
