Robert Deniro Hangs Out at Chazz Restaurant in Baltimore

Silver screen legend Robert DeNiro joined his longtime friend and fellow actor Chazz Palminteri for lunch at Chazz’s new restaurant in Baltimore, Maryland. The venue is appropriately named Chazz: A Bronx Original. DeNiro was en route to Washington, D.C. to the Kennedy Center Honors program but decided to make a pit stop at the eatery. And here’s why.
DeNiro and his entourage ordered a signature veal meatball appetizer with fresh whipped ricotta cheese, a pizza made with the restaurant’s burrata cheese, a caprese salad, and penne with blackened chicken. Oh, and they also enjoyed a few homemade desserts. I wonder who had the honor of wheelbarrow-ing him out of that place.
Developed by Oscar-nominated actor Chazz Palminteri, the restaurant boasts that it “redefines the Italian American culinary experience.”
The restaurant’s website reads: “Located in Baltimore’s Harbor East, Chazz takes diners on a trip down Arthur Avenue, the main culinary thoroughfare of the Bronx, and provides one-of-a-kind ‘Bronx Style’ pizza baked in a coal fired oven, homemade Italian American specialties and an unprecedented bar program including hand-crafted cocktails and an extensive wine list.”
Some of the restaurant’s specialties include Pork Osso Bucco, a slow-braised pork shank, as well as a Filet Mignon that’s topped with a Gorgonzola garlic crust.
You can wash down all that goodness with a Cardinal Sin, a signature cocktail that’s also a Chazz original.
“Flavors resembling an Old Fashioned will satisfy any classic cocktail aficionado,” the menu reads. They also serve their own twists on classics, like the Ginger Gin & Tonic and their C.P. Margarita, which is made with 100% blue agave.
And The Bronx cocktail is a must-have, as the menu explains its history:
“Created at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, the Bronx Cocktail is a classic: even as late as the 1930’s, the Bronx was considered one of the three most popular cocktails along with the venerable Martini and Manhattan.”
Chazz Restaurant’s Happy Hour is sure to become legendary. You can get their signature margarita, along with a couple of other cocktail concoctions for only five bucks. Beers go for about $3, and the restaurant serves food specials like sausage and peppers, bruschetta, calamari and those aforementioned veal meatball sliders…for only $5. One of each, please!
