It’s the couple’s first holiday together as husband and wife, and Sherri talked to our sister site, Hollyscoop, about how we can all make the best out of our holidays.
First thing’s first, let’s talk presents. Shepherd says her go-to stocking stuffer this year is the Oral B toothbrush.
“I love those things,” Sherri said. “I got one here at The View that I use. I’m getting everyone here one of those. It used to be a George Foreman grill. Now it’s an Oral B power toothbrush.”
Most of us never have any idea what to get the dudes in our lives. Men are notoriously difficult to shop for….what do we get them? A tie? Baseball cards? The Lindsay Lohan Playboy issue? If none of those sound good, Sherri has some ideas.
“With men, you really gotta get them something they use all the time. If you know your guy likes to fix stuff, get him some tools. If you know he’s an electronics person, get him something electronic.” Sherri told Hollyscoop.
And spoiler alert, Lamar! Look away, because your wife is about to reveal your Christmas gift!
Good, he’s gone. Go on, Sherri.
“With my husband, he loves music, and he loves sports. So I got him these Lakers tickets. I asked everybody I knew about these tickets. And I made him this CD of music that he loves.”
Useful and romantic. So what is Sherri asking for this year?
“I told my husband I want all new makeup brushes. I’m really so blessed, I don’t need anything.”
And Sherri, let’s be real. An iPad or diamonds on Christmas morning?
“I love my iPad…The iPad is more practical than diamonds.”
And almost just as shiny!
When it comes to decorating for your holiday party, Shepherd says it’s easy to do on a budget.
“I went to all of the discount stores, because I’m just not spending a lot of money on decorations. I go to the 99-cent store. I look for sales, so that way I’m not stressed out because I spent a bunch of money on Christmas.”
Sherri’s Christmas tree must be quite the sight. “Everyone says it should be monochromatic. But I got red, green, yellow balls. All the garland from last year. I don’t even waste stuff,” Sherri tells us. “If I find it in the box from last year, it’s going on the tree. It’s the spirit that counts.”
So we’ve got the gifts and garland covered, now what about the holiday food?
“We love ham,” Sherri says, of her family’s Christmas dinner tradition. “A honey baked ham. And we love all the soul food. Mac n Cheese, potatoes, rum cake…so we’re pretty sleepy after we eat. We do a really big dinner on December 24, that way we can just have a really great time on the 25th.”
