Hugh Jackman Opens Laughing Man Coffee Shop for Charity

New Yorkers can now feel a little better about their caffeine highs. Hugh Jackman has recently opened the Laughing Man Coffee & Tea shop in New York, and 100% of the proceeds go to charity. Yes, 100%. Not half. Not a quarter. Not—okay, you know what 100% means.

The shop will sell tea, coffee and chocolates in order to raise money for the less fortunate. One of the charities they plan to help out is the Harlem Village Academies. During the store’s grand opening, Hugh Jackman even gave out free drinks to young fans who stopped by.

The store is part of Jackman’s already-established Laughing Man organization/charity he founded with his friends Barry and David Steingard. The actor says he got the idea when he met a coffee farmer named Dukale during a trip to Ethiopia in 2009.

Gunbar: NYC's Newest Celebrity Hotspot

And after reading this, you’ll understand why. New York City’s GunBar, located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, boasts a new concept for nightclubs. It’s hip, but grimy. It’s chic but covered in graffiti. Basically, it captures the atmosphere of NYC’s seedy streets without being completely gross and smelling like bum urine.

The club has a rock-inspired ambiance that mixes the feel of a dive bar with all the amenities of elegance. One of the most bizarre, but genius, features of the club is the tattoo shop. Legendary tattoo artist Michelle Myles will run the nightclub’s tattoo parlor, which is open Thursday-Saturday from 11:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Customers can have some drinks and then go get inked.

This is the smartest idea I’ve heard in a while—open a tattoo parlor inside of a place where people’s judgments are clouded and they’re willing to do things they regret. They should also open a Del Taco in there and set up an Internet station where people can email their exes. And if they want to take it up another notch, they should open a laser tattoo removal shop that’s only open on Sundays.

The Best Hidden Bars in the United States

It’s hard enough to run a business with everyone knowing about it, much less making it a secret hideout that only people in the know will frequent.

Who knows what’s really going on at places like that? For all we know, there’s a large underground Russian roulette ring going on in those places. But that just makes it even cooler, doesn’t it? Without further adieu, here are some top secret, hidden places all across the country. But sshhh, don’t tell anyone.

Marfreless, Houston,: There’s a small blue door under a staircase behind a strip center in Houston’s prestigious River Oaks neighborhood. Once inside, you’ll find a super dark bar with an upstairs area that's even darker so people can make-out. If you don’t feel like sucking face, head to the bar for strong but delicious cocktails.

Bathtub Gin, New York City: It's disguised as a cute little coffee shop in Chelsea. But if you see a little red light on, that means the bar is open. The light is above a fake wall, and if you push on it, it’s a door that will lead you to the bar.

Top Cities in America For Eating Out

It's Friday, time to count down the minutes to 5 o'clock and make reservations at your favorite restaurant. Hopefully the maître d' at Taco Bell can fit you in.

LivingSocial put out their first “Dining Out” survey, interviewing 4,000 Americans in twenty different cities. And they've released all the indulgent details.

First of all, it was discovered that Americans eat 250 restaurant meals per year. Some other interesting facts: Los Angeles brunches more than anyone else, Washington D.C. has the best Ethiopian food, and Detroit is the worst place to eat out.

Overall, it was discovered that the top five cities for eating out are New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Houston and Dallas.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries Staying in $7,000/Night Hotel Suite

For most of us, a $7,000 travel budget will buy a two-week European, city-hopping vacation. For the Kardashians, that much money only buys one night in New York.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries moved into a Presidential Suite in New York's Gansevoort Hotel that costs $7,000 per night. If I'm spending that much, you can bet your ass I'm taking the shampoo and body lotion home with me.

The suite is 2,000 square feet of magnificence, and it has two stories, three bedrooms, a marble floored bathroom and giant private balcony. Okay, this isn't a hotel room, it's an estate.

Ridiculously Cheap Happy Hour Prices Across the U.S.

All of this debt ceiling, recession and economic downfall talk really puts a damper on things. Nowadays, we can barely afford to live, much less drink. And for some of us, those are one in the same. But good news, my fellow booze hounds. You can still get wasted without going broke. We're rallying up the most ridiculously cheap happy hours across our great country.

Los Angeles: The Edison: Every Thursday night, between 5pm, and 7pm, the Edison serves it's signature "1910 Martinis" for only 35 cents each. Yes, you read that right. They turn back the clocks to Depression-era prices. Of course, this swanky downtown LA bar get absolutely packed. But oddly enough, “a lot of people don’t even buy the 35-cent martinis," a waitress says. Perhaps because The Edison offers a variety of cocktails, and a delicious menu, too.

The Best Celebrity Owned Restaurants

Sometimes, celebs reach the top so fast, there's nowhere else to go. That's when, for some reason, they decide to open their own restaurants. If most of us decided to open our own eateries, the menu would consist of Top Ramen and Captain Crunch. But with money, contacts and a little luck, some celebs have managed to establish some pretty good restaurants.

Ryan Gosling: Tagine: Gosling holds major stake in this Moroccan restaurant situated in Beverly Hills. It's got good buzz, good Yelp reviews, and Ryan Gosling is hot. No, that doesn’t have anything to do with anything, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Their best dishes are said to be the sea bass and lamb. It's also on Zagat's list of top celebrity-owned spots. Also, Ryan Gosling is hot.

Robert De Niro: Locanda Verde: Robert De Niro's name is associated with more restaurants than Scorsese movies. How many eateries has he invested in? "I don’t know…23, 24, 25…" De Niro says. Many have failed, but Locanda Verde has good reviews. It's obviously an Italian joint, but De Niro's one guilty food pleasure is a pretty simple dish:

"Sometimes peanut butter. Even peanut butter and jelly. Rarely." ...what a rebel.

1Oak Moving to Las Vegas

New York hotspot 1Oak will soon be moving to NYC. Ok, it won't be moving, but owners Richie Akiva, Scott Sartiano and Ronnie Madra will reportedly be opening another location at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

Rumor on the block is that the boys are in negotiations with the Light Group to take over Jet nightclub at the Mirage Hotel.

Place to Visit While in NYC: Greenhouse NYC

It doesn't matter how tired she is after a concert, Rihanna is always down for a good time.

That's why when she finished performing at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island this week, she headed right back to the city and hit up her favorite hotspot, Greenhouse.
