And after reading this, you’ll understand why. New York City’s GunBar, located in the heart of the Meatpacking District, boasts a new concept for nightclubs. It’s hip, but grimy. It’s chic but covered in graffiti. Basically, it captures the atmosphere of NYC’s seedy streets without being completely gross and smelling like bum urine.

The club has a rock-inspired ambiance that mixes the feel of a dive bar with all the amenities of elegance. One of the most bizarre, but genius, features of the club is the tattoo shop. Legendary tattoo artist Michelle Myles will run the nightclub’s tattoo parlor, which is open Thursday-Saturday from 11:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. Customers can have some drinks and then go get inked.

This is the smartest idea I’ve heard in a while—open a tattoo parlor inside of a place where people’s judgments are clouded and they’re willing to do things they regret. They should also open a Del Taco in there and set up an Internet station where people can email their exes. And if they want to take it up another notch, they should open a laser tattoo removal shop that’s only open on Sundays.

The club will also have a state-of-the-art Funktion One sound system that will boast the mash-ups of renowned DJs. The music will have a definite rock & roll edge, with music from the 60s to the 90s.

A statement from the venue further describes their interior design:

“Paying homage to the dark downtown renegade culture of New York City, the subterranean rock & roll club boasts wall-to-wall street art which has been curated to reflect controlled chaos by renowned graffiti artist Lucas Benarroch.”

Indeed, the venue is completely covered in graffiti, curated by stencil artist Bast. Bast is known for contributing to Marc Jacobs’ clothing line with his unique print screen designs.

And now to the important stuff. The drinks. The cocktail list includes signature drinks that range from $12-$18. Some highlights are Passion Fruit Cocktail, Cucumber & Fresh Mint Cocktail, Blackberry Cocktail, and Chili Caipirinha.

Some celebs who have visited the venue include Bam Magera, Joe Jonas and Gossip Girl’s Kaylee DeFer. And speaking of Gossip Girl, the club recently helped launch the Romeo & Juliet Couture Gossip Girl Collection.

DeFer was joined by fashionista Leigh Lezark while Gossip Girl-themed drinks were served and The MisShapes played.

GunBar is a must-visit if you’re in New York City. You can experience all the grittiness of NYC without, you know, getting mugged or something. GunBar
