Channing Tatum to Open New Orleans Bar

The Crescent City is about to get hotter.

Channing Tatum, who stars alongside Jonah Hill in 21 Jump Street, reveals he has plans to open a bar in New Orleans’ famous French Quarter.

“I don’t think I’d ever open a bar anywhere else, really,” Channing told the New Orleans Times—Picayune. “Because I don’t want to try to get people there. But people come to New Orleans with a little bit of money in their pocket and they have one thing they want to do with it.”

King Cake: A Delicious Mardis Gras Tradition

Mardis Gras is just around the corner, and aside from the Girls Gone Wild camera crew showing up to exchange beads for boobs, most of us aren’t really familiar with any Mardis Gras traditions.

Drunken debauchery aside, Mardis Gras is actually a pretty interesting holiday. New Orleans had its first Mardis Gras in 1837, and it’s known as “Carnival Season” to celebrate the days leading up to Ash Wednesday.

Basically, the holiday is for getting all your vices out of your system before giving something up for Lent. So this year, when you’re lifting up your shirt after downing a yard of some mysterious purple drink, remember at least one little Mardis Gras tradition: King Cake!

Inside D Woods 24th Birthday Bash

Celebrating a birthday is always a big deal. While most of us regular folks will have one party out of a year, celebrities like to party hop from one city to another.

D Woods from the girl group Danity Kane did just that for her 24th Birthday. The party entitled,”It’s A Girl," brought her girls down south to Atlanta and to New Orleans.

In Hot-lanta, D Woods and her band-mates took the stage at Luckie nightclub, where they performed for the crowd. Check out the video below from the exclusive bash and Happy Birthday D!

Jay Z And Lebron James Heat Up All Star Weekend

The stars were all in the “Big Easy” this weekend for the NBA All star weekend. On Saturday night, Jay-Z and LeBron James hosted the “Doublemint Two Kings” dinner at the New Orleans’ Generation Hall.

With Two Kings in the house, you know it's going to be a royal affair. The “power dinner” brought in Beyonce Knowles, Spike Lee, Ludacris, Mark Cuban, Gabrielle Union, Jason Kidd, Jet Li among others.

Following the exclusive dinner, guests were joined by 500 stars and athletes at the "Two Kings" After-party at the same location. It's good to see some excitement in a city that has seen so much torment in the past couple of years.

Brad Pitt Makes It Right In New Orleans

Brad Pitt is creating hot spots all for a good cause. The actor recently announced his newest project for the Lower 9th Ward.

The “Make It Right” project calls for building 150 affordable environmentally sound houses over the next two years. Architects working on the project were each asked to design a 1,200-square-foot house for about $150,000 with Make It Right to help with the financing. The houses had to be built five to eight feet off the ground, with a front porch and three bedrooms as seen in the picture below.

"Make It Right's" mission is built upon catalyzing redevelopment of the Lower Ninth Ward by building a neighborhood of safe and healthy homes that incorporates modern, high-quality design and construction while preserving the spirit of the community's culture.

It’s good to see Brad Pitt working on new roles in order to help the environment. In my opinion, this project should set an example on how houses should be built all across the nation. With global warming, it’s a crucial time for our environment and we all need to take action. To learn more about the project log on to www.globalgreen.org
