Woohoo, no more hot pockets and Ramen!

Michelle Obama is teaming up with grocery stores to bring nutritious, affordable foods to impoverished areas of the U.S. National chains such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens and SuperValu have agreed to open more than 1,500 stores that will offer fresh food to our country's "food deserts"—areas that have very little access to healthy foods. For example, my apartment.

The executives from these companies are joining the first lady at the White House today to make the announcement. Leslie Dach, executive VP of corporate affairs at Wal-Mart, says: "The Walmart customer deserves to have access to healthy food at prices they can afford."

You know, I'm not sure that they do. Ever encountered your typical Walmart customer? They're assholes. I once heard a guy tell his kid if he didn't shut up, he was "going to get clothes-lined". Another time I was minding my own business on the cereal aisle, and this woman came up to me and just said, "I'm going to tear your ass up, girl." Walmart customers are the worst. Then again, it could be all the sh-tty food turning them into assholes.

Penny Gordon-Larsen, a nutrition researcher at the University of North Carolina says, "It's wonderful to provide greater access to underserved areas, but providing access alone may not be enough. These efforts need to be coupled with promotion, education and incentives for purchasing healthier food."

This was just announced. Give the woman some time!
