Wolfgang Puck Opens Restaurant at Hotel Bel-Air
October 27, 2011 by: KRISTIN WONG

Good news, because celeb chef Wolfgang Punk is opening a new spot at Hotel Bel-Air. It's named Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air. Makes sense, right?
It's a gorgeous new restaurant that is going to be fully opened on November 1. And it's going to quickly become one of the most casually elegant restaurants in town. Yup, move over, Applebee's! The new Wolfgang eatery is situated near the hotel's lake of swans, and the ceilings are retractable. No big deal. Just swans and a retractable ceiling, that's all.
For the past couple of years, the Hotel Bel-Air has been shut down for some major upgrades. One of those upgrades was this awesome restaurant. Interior designer David Rockwell designed a laid-back yet upscale dining room with earth tones that invite you in and make you want to just relax and enjoy your meal. The outdoor patio is also impressive, and it's been expanded. There's also a gorgeous marble fireplace, so you know, if you take your Mom for Mother's Day, she won't complain about the draft. Glass towers border the dining room, filled with over 2,400 bottles of wine.
The Menu has been kept secret, and more details will be revealed on November 1. Right now, Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air is only open to hotel guests.
So far, we only know that the menu will boast California-Mediterranean dishes. A statement says that the “menus will reflect the healthy California lifestyle showcasing the best of California's wonderful, fresh ingredients such as produce from Chino Farms and local farmers' markets, all natural poultry and sustainable seafood."
Overall, the venue is relaxed. Ritzy, yes. But still relaxed. In the back, there's a 14-seat private dining room.
During a preliminary pre-opening Sunday Brunch, guests were given Krug and caviar, Yellowtail Tartare, Twice-Baked Upside-Down Cheese Souffle, Penne al Ragu de Crostacei, Wagyu New York Sirloin with "onsen" egg, and Poached Pink Lady Apples with toasted almond moelleux and poire williams sorbet.
So this isn't exactly someplace you stop by for a "quick bite." It's designed for guests to come in, order multiple courses and enjoy their surroundings. And probably a bottle of wine.
Once it opens, Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air will serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea and Sunday brunch.
