Hollywood hotspot Mirabelle just got a facelift. After forty-one-years, the restaurant brought in designer Thomas Schoos (the man responsible for the interiors of Lexington Social House and Koi) to give the place a new aesthetic.
The new inside of Mirabelle features what I’ll describe as “streamline clutter.” The new place is filled with bizarre tchotchkes like mounted horse heads, bear skin rugs, and statues of buddha.
The designer calls the interior “organized disarray” and says to expect decorative art like “antique teddy bears encased in golden homes intended for gods.” Interpret that how you will, because I don't know how to.
To add to the crazy new interior, the restaurant is also bringing in new chef, Michael Bryant of Palihouse. The menu is getting a seafood-upgrade with lots of fish flavored small plates like tuna ham and Scottish salmon pastrami. If tuna ham isn’t your “thing” there’s also grilled alligator, crawfish hotlinks, and Maryland blue crab hushpuppies.
So maybe the menu isn’t for everyone (or anyone?). The rest of the entrée menu includes items like house made ravioli stuffed basil enhanced local halibut, grilled branzino, fava beans, chorizo and artichokes in white wine.
After a month long closure, Mirabelle will reopen this weekend! If Tuna-ham and antique teddy bears is up your alley, head over to Mirabelle.
