Gordon Ramsay made a name for himself by being both outrageous and outspoken. And he hasn’t backed down an inch.

The MasterChef presenter is now making another bold statement—chefs should not be overweight.

Ramsay recently told Extra: “I keep fit. I don't think chefs [should be fat]. I eat like a horse. Honestly, I was a fat chef once. I don't think it's a very good advert.”

He added that it’s just plain unsavory for customers to see a fat chef.

“When you walk in the dining room, dripping of sweat and trying to encourage customers to eat dessert, they say, ‘Look at that fat chef over there’. It’s not good. So I eat well.”

With over twenty-five restaurants under his belt, Ramsay has an idea of what good food presentation is. And if you don’t, chances are, he’ll scream at you until you do.

In 2008, Ramsay opened his first U.S. west coast restaurant in Los Angeles. Located on the famed Sunset Strip, The London West Hollywood Hotel boasts the cuisine of Ramsay—“gastronomic bliss from restaurant to suite”.

The hotel’s Boxwood Café is famous for its weekend brunch, which includes menu items like Espresso pancakes and baked egg & ratatouille. They also have a daily afternoon tea from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.

The dinner menu is equally as impressive, with culinary feats like roasted lamb rib-eye and caramelized sea scallops. The menu only includes the freshest local produce, and the fare has a subtle Asian influence.

No word on the average weight of the chefs.
