Twitter The New Hotspot In Hollywood

Twitter is Hollywood’s new hotspot. It seems like every celebrity has signed up for the social network that allows to to get in and out with 140 characters or less. And unlike most Hollywood hotspots, Twitter doesn't seem to be closing its doors after a three-month run.

Even Hollywood A-Lister Jennifer Aniston is thinking about joining Twitter simply to help with rumor control. But she may want to hang on to her publicist, since using Twitter to dispel the bi-weekly tabloid claims that she's having Brad Pitt's baby doesn't sound all that fun.

Twitter is utilized for all different reasons, and Jen wouldn't be the first celeb to use the site as a rumor-check. Stars like Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and Adam Lambert have all logged on to right the wrongs written about them in the blogosphere.

Twitter has even helped people launch their careers! Take Gabi Gregg, the blogger behind Young, Fat & Fabulous, who just won the coveted MTV Twitter Jockey position with a salary of $100K to boot! She's basically being paid to schmooze with performance artists, and be the liaison between stars and the general public. Greg says of Twitter, “I meet people [through Twitter] that I’d never have the opportunity to know. It’s been a great way to give and get feedback from my readers, for blogging in between posts — when I got started, I had no idea how cool it was.”

I recently caught up with some celebs on the red carpet and asked them if they were addicted to Twitter. Dancing with the stars professional dancer Cheryl Burke wasn't afraid to admit her addiction. "I just started tweeting," she confessed. "I am addicted to Twitter...I can’t help it.”

The Hills star Lo Bosworth tweets like it's going out of style, but is over the TMI. “Sometimes people talk about going to the bathroom--that’s disgusting,” she says.

We agree! Celeb tweeting should be used for promotion of projects, not bathroom breaks! Rapper Flo Rida uses Twitter for that exact reason. He told us, “It’s a great way of promotion. That’s why I always try to take advantage of it." Flo Rida went on to say, "I might not even know I am addicted but I do it all the time.”

Twitter is a good addiction to have! It costs nothing, is calorie-free and can be really educational and entertaining! Follow Hollyscoop on Twitter!
