Los Angeles may not have a football team, but it does have a boxing team.

Meet the LA Matadors, who have created quite the buzz the past couple of weeks in Hollywood. Comprised of amateur boxers who are living the dream through the WSB organization.

Yesterday, I got a chance to see the LA Matadors topple the Mexico City Guerreros in a league clash. It was my first boxing match for the Matadors at Hollywood hotspot Avalon and I must confess, I am hooked.

Boxing Champion Evander Holyfield was also in the house and confessed, “The LA Matadors is a great team, they got great support and they have good fighters. They may have better fighters than all the team."

It's not only boxing professionals that are checking out the fights, but celebrities as well. Jenny McCartney, Julie Benz, C.S. Lee, Karina Sminoff and the orignal hulk Lou Ferrigno have all stopped by to check out the Matadors in action.

"The thing I love about this event, as a women who get to be all dressed up and be all gutter, go fight, win," said Julie Benz.

Julie Benz believes the WSB is a great organization that helps amateur fighters nurture their careers. “Unfortunately we live in a country that doesn’t subsidized in amateur sports and I used to be an amateur figure skater and I suffered the same issue where you couldn’t make money and retain your amateur status. What the Wsb offers is a way for these amazing amateur athletes to maintain their amateur status, make money and get health insurances and that’s huge especially for a boxer.”
