Hotel Roemer Amsterdam Review

Hotel Roemer Amsterdam Review

I recently had the opportunity to travel to Amsterdam and while researching places to stay I came across the Vondel Hotels. Their unique rooms, ultra-modern décor and amenities immediately attracted me to the hotel.

Both the Vondel Hotel and nearby sister Hotel Roemer are a treat for any traveler. The 23 guest rooms at Roemer offer a rain dance shower, a soaking tub, flat screen TVs, a fabulous Nespresso coffeemaker (which came in handy after my long train ride) and an iPod dock station. But nothing beat their comfortable bed. After a long day of exploring the city, I felt like a queen sleeping in the luxury king size bed. I can’t remember the last time I had such a good night's sleep.

The staff was extremely friendly and inviting, whether offering us help with maps and tickets to various museums and exhibits around town or recommending fantastic local places to eat and drink. The lobby features a fireplace and cocktail bar that leads to a hidden, private garden.

If you can peel yourself away from the hotel, both hotels are walking distance to Vondelpark, the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museum, and Leidseplein. In fact the hotel is near all the major cultural places of interest, yet tucked away on a quiet street, virtually free from traffic.

Overall the hotel is a gem! There were no hidden surprises added to the bill, the bed was the comfiest I slept in in all of Europe and it’s in a prime location. Vondel and Roemer perfectly marry the old-world rustic charm of Amsterdam with hip, modern luxuries that today's traveler craves. I would happily recommend Vondel Hotels to any traveler.
