Despite that, it's considered a delicacy in China. And I know what you're thinking, everything short of frog vomit is considered a delicacy in China, but this is actually enjoyed Stateside, too.
We talked to Bizarre Foods host Andrew Zimmern, who prepared the food in front of us. And yes, we tried it, and yes, it was…interesting.
First, Zimmern heated the soft shell clam with a torch to prepare it for skinning. He then removed the outer layer, opened the shell, and sliced it up. Simple, huh?
